Having the opportunity to attend the conference increased my professional knowledge. I also had the chance to get to know my colleagues. I met professionals that I had been researching who were willing to answer my questions. In my classroom, I have successfully implemented strategies that I learned at the conference.
Kim Doan
University of Virginia
In addition to learning effective classroom strategies, two of the DLD Board members sat down, had wine with us, and gave us advice on searching for our first faculty position. This was priceless!
Dawn Hamlin
Pennsylvania State Univ.
One of the best aspects of the DLD conference that makes it extremely worthwhile is the opportunity to work with materials and strategies with guidance and feedback from key researchers in special ed. This practical experience is invaluable and helps to improve implementation after the conference has ended and we all have gone home.
Laura Hudson
Columbia College
Although this is my 20th year of teaching, this was my first DLD conference and I was pumped! I met new friends and was encouraged, affirmed and confirmed that being an LD teacher is a true calling. This conference was a great shot in the arm to this aging teacher, who learned new tricks and ideas to share with my colleagues. Thank you for the opportunity to attend through the Roads Scholarship.
Christopher O'Brien

The DLD conference was fantastic. It is rare that you get the opportunity to have such personal interaction with some of the most talented professionals in our field. I left the conference with new ideas for research and great instructional strategies to implement in the classroom.
