IDEA PROPOSED REGULATIONS UPDATE
In June 2005, the U. S. Department of Education issued the proposed regulations for the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004 (IDEA 2004).
The public comment period ended September 6. The U. S. Department of Education will review thousands of comments before making changes to the proposed regulations.
FINAL REGULATIONS
According to the Department of Education, the final IDEA regulations are expected to be released to the public at the end of this year or early 2006. CEC will provide information on the final regulations once they are made available.
DLD JOINS OTHER LD ORGANIZATIONS IN IDEA 2004 RESPONSE
As a member of the Learning Disabilities Roundtable, DLD was one of twelve national organizations who collectively submitted comments in response to the IDEA 2004 proposed federal regulations governing the evaluation of students with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD).

READ CEC'S COMMENTS ON THE PROPOSED IDEA REGULATIONS
On September 6th, CEC submitted its comments on the proposed IDEA regulations to the Department of Education.
