(CAN) Reports

Karen Rooney, CAN Coordinator for the Division for Learning Disabilities, provides brief reports for TeachingLD.org so that visitors can keep informed about important developments in policies affecting students with learning disabilities and their teachers. TeachingLD.org is pleased to offer this page as a place for people concerned with learning disabilities to keep up to date.

25 June 2003

Alert!  On 25 June 2003, the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee completed its work on Senate Bill 1248 to reauthorize IDEA and sent it to the full Senate. The full Senate will consider the bill later in the summer. The Division for Learning Disabilities encourages people to learn about the proposed legislation (see HELP's site about the bill) and to send messages to their senators expressing their opinions about it. See the Council for Exceptional Children's (CEC) site for Legislative Updates for news about the progress of the bill. If you would like to use the electronic message system provided by CEC to send your opinion, simply go to CEC's Legislative Action Center.
