The last Friday and Saturday of September 2002 in Pittsburgh (PA), the Division for Learning Disabilities (DLD) held its third annual conference on Bridging the Gap Between Research and Practice. The conference sessions focused on methods that have been validated through research with students with learning disabilities (LD), providing detailed workshops so than teachers left the sessions knowing how to implement the effective methods in their classes.

B. Wozney helped registrants with free membership materials.	It included a chance to collect workshop materials from (l-r) E. Mithener, N. Zigmond, and K. Bright.
Workshop participants included J. Elkins of Australia.	Registrants enjoyed getting together for lunch on Saturday.
Meanwhile, when not helping with the sessions, members of the executive board (N. Zigmond and S. Gurganus) met to conduct DLD business.	As the luncheon speaker, D. Deshler delivered a marvelous plea for adopting and implementing effective instructional practices.
Their efforts included planning for Bridging the Gap Between Research and Practice for the fall of 2003, to be held in Nashville (S. Gurganus, C. Hughes, and E. Ellis, l-r).
